At PetSpecial (“PetSpecial,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), our goal is to offer practical, honest, research-based information to help you succeed as a pet parent. We want to be upfront about how this site is funded, how our recommendations are made, and the limits of the information we publish.
1. How We Earn Money
PetSpecial is supported by affiliate commissions and, at times, display advertising. This income helps cover the cost of researching, writing, and maintaining the site so our content stays free for every pet parent.

Affiliate Links
Some articles on PetSpecial contain affiliate links. If you buy a product or service through one of these links, we may earn a small commission from the merchant. This never adds to your cost, and the price you pay is the same whether you use our link or go to the merchant directly.
Affiliate partners may use cookies or similar tracking technologies to attribute purchases to us. How they collect and use information is governed by their own privacy policies. You can read how we handle data on our Privacy Policy page.
Amazon Associates
PetSpecial is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
As an Amazon Associate, PetSpecial earns from qualifying purchases.
Walmart Affiliate Program
PetSpecial also participates in the Walmart affiliate program, which allows sites to earn referral fees by linking to Walmart.com. If you click a Walmart link on our site and make a qualifying purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Where we include Walmart links, we aim to label them as affiliate links next to the link itself.
Display Advertising
We may show ads on our site, including through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show personalized ads based on your browsing activity across websites. You can manage your preferences through Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info, or through your browser’s cookie settings.
Ads are separate from our editorial content. If we ever publish content as part of a paid promotion, we will clearly label it “Sponsored.”
2. Editorial Independence
Affiliate relationships and advertisers do not determine our editorial process, our conclusions, or which products we feature. As described in our Editorial Guidelines:
- We never recommend products based on commission. If a great product has no affiliate program, we’ll still recommend it when it’s the right choice for your pet.
- We tell you how we know. Recommended products are either tested in our own homes or supported by enough third-party reviews and credible sources for us to consider them safe, useful, and high quality. When a recommendation is based on third-party reviews, we say so in the article.
- We show both sides. We cover the advantages and limitations of every product. No product suits every pet. Species, age, individual needs, where you live, your climate, and even the season can all change the answer.
- We don’t exaggerate. We don’t use scare tactics or inflated claims to generate clicks or sales, and we don’t present unverified information as established fact.
- We research from credible sources, including veterinary organizations, peer-reviewed research where necessary, government resources, and professional guidance.
3. Medical & Veterinary Disclaimer
PetSpecial is an educational resource, not a veterinary service. Our content on symptoms, nutrition, behavior, grooming, and health is for general information only.
- Our content does not replace advice from a qualified veterinarian, and we do not diagnose pets.
- We do not present unverified home remedies as alternatives to medical treatment.
- If your pet shows signs of illness, injury, pain, or sudden behavior changes, contact a veterinarian. Never delay or ignore professional advice because of something you read on PetSpecial or any other website.
4. Product Safety & Individual Pet Differences
Every pet is different, so please evaluate any product before introducing it to yours.
- Supervise your pet with new toys, electrical items (such as automatic feeders or fountains), grooming tools, and diet changes.
- Check the label. Manufacturers update formulations, materials, and safety specs from time to time. Review ingredient lists, warnings, and instructions before giving your pet any new product or food.
5. Corrections & Contact
If you spot an error or outdated information, please reach out through our Contact page. We’ll verify it independently and fix it, and we note major revisions at the bottom of the affected page or article.
For more on how we work, see our Editorial Guidelines and Privacy Policy.
