PetSpecial consists of a dedicated group of pet parents and researchers. Our approach to offering you helpful content derives from thorough research and fact-checked information. So, the helpful tips, product recommendations, and other advice you receive from us are the results of our deep passion for helping pet parents. We share what we know and what we believe you should know.
How We Research
Each piece of our content addresses a real question or a real problem — either one we faced ourselves as pet parents, or one a pet parent asked on the internet or directly to us. Once we finalize the topic of our content, we dive deeper into it through thorough research based on credible sources, which include veterinarian organizations and peer-reviewed research content where necessary. We also use various government resources, guidance from professionals, and other reliable sources of information. For content related to product reviews, we gather information from multiple sources to show you both perspectives, instead of solely relying on manufacturers’ claims.
Once published, we regularly review our own content for factual accuracy. We also update our content based on new data that gets published.
Firsthand Experience and Author Voice
Our best efforts go toward sharing informed, practical, lived experiences with our own pets. We believe this approach helps us connect more with the pet parent community. But we know very well that personal experience cannot be used as scientific evidence. Therefore, we fact-check every piece of information before putting it out here on PetSpecial. We always prioritize what the research supports.
Our articles sometimes use a personal, first-person narrative so that our readers can feel at home and more connected to the PetSpecial team. Our objective is to be more human, not generic or corporate.
Product Recommendations
The products we recommend for your pets are either directly tested in our homes, or ones we have enough information on through third-party reviewers to believe are safe, useful, and of high quality. If any of our product recommendations are based on third-party reviews, we explicitly say so in our writing.
We never compromise on showing you both sides of the coin; we offer you information on both the advantages and limitations of the pet product. The truth of the matter is that no product is suitable for every pet. The most suitable product for one pet might be terrible for another because of factors like species, age, your pet’s individual needs, where you live, your climate, or the season you buy the product in. We try to present all these variables to help you make an informed decision when picking the right product for your furry baby.
